Setting the Power Liftgate Memory Height on a Subaru

Subarus have always been cars for getting things done. With great power liftgates and cargo space, many new Subaru models have the capacity for whatever you need to get haul around.

But with liftgates, it can sometimes be hard to reach the hatch to close it once it's been opened. That's especially true on models with more than eight inches of ground clearance, like the Crosstrek, Forester, and Legacy at our Oviedo area Subaru dealer.

Luckily, Subaru vehicles equipped with power liftgates have an available memory system that allows you to set the height it will open to and go no further, so it's never out of reach. Here's how that works:

Setting Memory Height on a Subaru Liftgate

First, you simply press down the Memory Height button to the left of the steering wheel. Then, at the rear of the car, you manually unlatch the liftgate and raise it to the height you want it to go to whenever you open it.

There's a button on the underside of the liftgate near the latch itself. When you have the liftgate positioned to your desired height, press and hold that button until the car makes an electronic beeping sound.

And that's all there is to it! Now, when you open the power liftgate either by hand, from your key fob, or from the interior control, it will always open to the height you set. To reset, simply press the Memory Height button near the steering wheel once again so it pops up, and then repeat the process.
